Shadchan (“the app”) is run by MGE Operating Group (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used and shared, and the choices you have. It applies to shadchanim who use the app at shadchan.themge.group.
Information we collect
- Your account: your name, email address, phone number (if you add one) and password. Passwords are stored only in hashed form.
- Information you add about singles and shidduchim: profiles, resumes, photos, notes, follow-ups and updates you enter or upload, plus a history of changes to each profile.
- Gmail, if you connect it: see “Gmail and Google user data” below.
- Messages: chats between shadchanim are end-to-end encrypted on your device. We store them only in encrypted form and cannot read them.
- Technical data: sign-in cookies that keep you logged in, and standard server logs (such as IP address and request times) kept by our hosting providers for security and troubleshooting. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
How we use information
- To run the app's features: storing and searching singles, tracking shidduchim, suggesting matches, importing resumes and sending messages.
- To read uploaded or imported resumes automatically and fill in profile details.
- To keep the app secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.
- To contact you about your account or important changes to the app.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Gmail and Google user data
Connecting Gmail is optional. If you connect it, the app asks Google for read-only access to your Gmail (the gmail.readonly permission). The app uses this access only to find resumes sent to you:
- It reads your Gmail address, so Settings can show which account is connected.
- About every 30 minutes, it looks for recent emails that have a PDF or Word attachment.
- From those emails it saves only the PDF and Word attachments, along with the sender, subject and date, into your Inbox in the app. It does not store the text of your emails or any other emails.
- It never sends, deletes, changes or labels anything in your Gmail.
We keep a Google access token so the import can run in the background. You can disconnect Gmail at any time in Settings, which deletes that token. You can also remove the app's access in your Google Account under Security, Third-party connections.
Shadchan's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. In particular:
- We use Gmail data only to provide the resume import feature you see in the app.
- We do not transfer Gmail data to anyone except as needed to provide that feature (the service providers listed below), to comply with the law, or as part of a merger or sale of the business with notice to you.
- We do not use Gmail data for advertising, and we do not sell it.
- No person at MGE Operating Group reads your Gmail data unless you ask us to for support, it is needed for security or to comply with the law.
- We do not use Gmail data to develop, improve or train generalized artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
Who we share information with
We share information only with service providers that run the app for us, and only for that purpose:
- Supabase: database, file storage and sign-in.
- Vercel: website hosting.
- Anthropic: reads the text of resumes so the app can fill in profile details. Anthropic does not use this data to train its models.
- Google: provides Gmail access, if you connect it.
Inside the app, a single's profile is visible to other shadchanim only if you choose to share it, or send it to them in a chat. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Information about singles
Profiles of singles are added by shadchanim, not by the singles themselves. The shadchan who adds a profile is responsible for having the single's permission to keep and share it. A single who wants their information corrected or removed can contact the shadchan who added it, or email us at info@themgegroup.com.
Keeping and deleting information
We keep your information for as long as your account is open. To delete your account and everything in it, email info@themgegroup.com. We delete it within 30 days, except for anything we must keep by law. Backups are overwritten on a regular cycle.
Security
Information is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access inside the database is limited by per-user permission rules, and chat messages are end-to-end encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you promptly if a breach affects you.
Your choices and rights
You can see and edit your information in the app at any time. You can ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, by emailing info@themgegroup.com. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local law, and we will honor them.
Children
The app is for adults. It is not meant for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date below, and for important changes we will tell you in the app or by email.
