These terms are an agreement between you and MGE Operating Group (“we”, “us”) for your use of Shadchan (“the app”). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
Who can use the app
The app is for shadchanim and people who help arrange shidduchim. You must be at least 18 years old and give accurate information when you sign up.
Your account
Keep your password, and your secure chat passphrase, private. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us right away at info@themgegroup.com if you think someone else has used it. Because chats are end-to-end encrypted, we cannot recover messages if you lose your chat passphrase.
Information about singles
You may add only information you have the right to keep and share. Before adding a single's profile, resume or photos, you must have that single's permission (or their parent's or guardian's, where appropriate), and you must respect any limits they set on who may see it. You choose each profile's sharing level, and you are responsible for what you share with other shadchanim. Treat everything you see about singles in the app as confidential, and use it only to help arrange shidduchim.
Your content
You keep ownership of everything you add to the app. You give us permission to store, process and display it only as needed to run the app for you and the people you share with. Profiles you set to Shared or Open can be suggested for edits or edited by other shadchanim, as the sharing level describes.
Gmail import
Connecting Gmail is optional. When connected, the app imports resume attachments from your email as described in our Privacy Policy. You can disconnect it at any time in Settings.
Automatic resume reading and matches
The app uses artificial intelligence to read resumes, fill in profile details and rank possible matches. These results can be wrong or incomplete. Always check details yourself before relying on them. Match rankings are suggestions only; decisions about any shidduch are yours.
Acceptable use
- Do not use the app for anything unlawful, harmful or deceptive.
- Do not harass anyone, or share information about someone in a way they have not agreed to.
- Do not try to access other people's accounts or data, or interfere with how the app works.
- Do not copy, resell or scrape the app or its content.
No guarantees
We work to keep the app running and your information safe, but the app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or any outcome from a suggestion or shidduch. Keep your own copies of anything important.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, MGE Operating Group is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim about the app is limited to the amount you paid us to use it in the 12 months before the claim, or $100 if you paid nothing.
Ending your use
You can stop using the app at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing info@themgegroup.com. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts other users or singles at risk.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the date below, and for important changes we will tell you in the app or by email. Using the app after a change means you accept the new terms.
